Hiker Profile | Lisa Gordis

Karen BrierNegev Trip 2013

Lisa Gordis will be hiking with us during our week together in Israel. She currently teaches American literature at Barnard College in New York City. Her family has a long and impressive history with Ramah. Lisa’s parents were staff members at Ramah Canada, California, and Connecticut, and she herself spent many years at Ramah California as a child in the Gan and as a camper and counselor. Her husband’s (Aaron Saiger, 2013 Ramah Israel Bike Rider) parents were campers at Ramah Poconos in the 1950’s. Her own children have been campers at Ramah Nyack, Ramah Berkshires, and Ramah Outdoor Adventure in the Colorado Rockies.

Lisa is especially excited that Ramah Outdoor Adventure launched a special needs program last summer, making the Ramah Outdoors program of “challenge by choice” possible for more children. Her daughter’s experiences hiking and biking at Ramah Outdoor Adventure helped inspire the family to take on the challenge of this trip.

Be on the look out for more rider and hiker bios in these weeks leading up to the event!
